Do you want to revolutionise textile technology, aviation or IT security with your start-up? Then apply now for the Startup.Starterkit.MG! This scholarship, unique in Germany, allows you to work for a whole year with renowned partners from research and development on the marketability of your product or service. Including rent- and service charge-free living in a start-up flat-share, free workplaces and a whole range of other attractive benefits! And all this pretty close to the pulse of the above-mentioned sectors and topics.
And where? In a textile city rich in tradition, where big names from the textile, textile machinery and clothing industries as well as textile logistics are located, as well as renowned training and further education institutions and initiatives. In the city with the second-largest general aviation airport in Germany, where innovations around the flying of the future, such as the SkyCab, already have a home. And at the location where the security experts of tomorrow are being trained at the Cyber Campus NRW … in Mönchengladbach!
We put together the Startup.Starterkit.MG for promising start-ups to provide them with the best possible support for their market entry, and present here the rough scope of services that await the winning teams for the duration of a whole year:
– Coaching and close support by one partner each from science/research and business/industry (industry-related)
– Free accommodation in the city centre of Mönchengladbach
– Free workspace at MGL Airport (#Aviation) or at a municipal company (#TexTech and #CyberSecurity)
– Free current accounts S-Starthilfe provided by Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach as well as further free additional services from Stadtsparkasse if required, e.g. business cards, banking software or business plan checkup
– Free annual membership in the Gladbacher Hockey- und Tennisclub e.V.
– Free annual membership in the start-up and digital association nextMG e.V. and access to its mentoring programme
– Access to all relevant industry networks and events in Mönchengladbach
– Transfer to alumni status incl. permanent anchoring in the Mönchengladbach start-up support system after the end of the funded year
Our offer is aimed at preferably two- to three-person startups who can present a meaningful pitch deck (10 pages max.) and can prove that their project is a little more than just an idea. This can be done, for example, in the form of an already completed or imminent foundation of their company, a completed business plan or a mature business model canvas. Local and regional as well as national or international start-ups are eligible. The business models should preferably be related to the following (or comparable) innovative topics.
For the Startup.Starterkit.MG #Aviation: Drone technology, design research and development of future means of air transport, alternative propulsion systems, etc.
For the Startup.Starterkit.MG #TexTech: New materials and materials from the fields of textiles/fashion/clothing, technical/smart textiles, supply chains/logistics, circular economy/recycling, textile engineering, digital markets/business models, etc.
For the Startup.Starterkit.MG #CyberSecurity: IT monitoring, risk management, data protection, data backup, protection against cyber attacks, etc.
Whoever gets the nod for the Startup.Starterkit.MG should not be afraid to move to the beautiful Lower Rhine and agrees to participate in joint marketing and PR activities around the Starterkit and to report regularly on the progress made. Don’t worry: only sensibly and in measured doses, of course! After all, the funded start-ups should primarily work on implementing their business models.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. If you convince us, you will be invited to a pitch and get the chance to secure the Startup.Starterkit.MG. The funded year for the three winning start-ups will begin on 1 October 2023 at the earliest. There is no right of appeal.
