Lower Rhine Textile & Clothing CSR Competence Center

For companies in the textile and clothing industry, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is highly topical. Whether in the trade press, at trade fairs and conferences, information events and specialist conferences – this topic is encountered everywhere, which makes the relevance and increasing weighting within the industry clear. An increasing number of critical consumers expect more transparency and sustainability in the textile value chain not only from retailers, but also from manufacturers and suppliers.

As part of a project funded by the NRW Ministry of Economics, the only industry-specific CSR competence center in NRW was established under the leadership of WFMG between 2016 and 2018. After the end of the funding period, the work at the Lower Rhine University of Applied Sciences was continued by the EthNa Institute of Prof. Dr. Monika Eigenstetter at the Department of Textile & Clothing Technology.

The aim is to inform companies about CSR-relevant topics, to promote interdisciplinary exchange and to combine specialist competencies. The current approaches of politics, business and interest groups to develop solutions specifically for the problems of the textile industry will be the content of future events.
