Hugo Junkers Hangar

A legendary aircraft, a light-flooded hall and a flexible room concept for events from two to 1,200 people – these are the main features of the location at Mönchengladbach Airport.

The team of Event-Hangar Mönchengladbach GmbH was successful in the NRW-EU Objective 2 competition “Erlebnis.NRW” with its aim of presenting one of the last airworthy Ju 52 in the birthplace of its inventor Hugo Junkers as a tourist highlight that attracts attention beyond the region. The Mönchengladbach-based catering and event agency noi! became the new operator of the hangar following a Europe-wide tender process.

A rising number of bookings and top-class events since the opening weekend on 19 and 21 June 2015 are a reflection of the venue’s exceptional appeal. In addition to the Ju 52 HB-HOY of the association “Verein der Freunde historischer Luftfahrzeuge e.V.”, visitors can expect a multimedia exhibition with many interesting exhibits from the life and work of the technology pioneer Hugo Junkers from Rheydt.
