The airport covers a 120-hectare area. The hangar area of the FMG (6 of a total of 11 aircraft hangars) is 14,000 sqm in size. There are currently 26 companies and government agencies based at the airport. With two full flight simulators, the RWL flight school is one of the most modern and largest training centres for commercial pilots in Germany
The hangars currently house around 160 aircraft, 12 of which are business jets. The rented office and workshop space of the FMG is 5,300 sqm, and the terminal has a size of 2,800 sqm. The airport company manages a total of around 22,000 sqm of usable building space, with a letting rate of just under 98%.
The approved operating times are between 6am and 10pm. The airfield has an IFR control zone and instrument flight operations with 2 ILS systems.
Although the runway has a total length of 1,440 m, only 1,200 m are permitted for flight operations; the remaining 2 x 120 m are only runway safety areas
In addition to the 900 company transport flights and 1,148 business flights per year, one of the main features of the airport at Mönchengladbach continues to be the flights operated by the RWL flight school, which has been based here since 1972.
